Every now and again, a new product comes along that helps to define a generation. Some of us can remember the yo-yo, knockers, slinkies, hula hoops, pong, pacman and so on. Since the days of pacman, video games have been a mainstay in our popular culture for several years now. Yes there are hundreds of household names in the video game market, but one game franchise, in particular, has been a runaway success and captivated millions. That franchise is John Madden Football. John Madden Wii is the football game of the year. John Madden Wii is perhaps the football game of any releaase. John Madden Wii is a game a true football fan will love.

Every year, since the product first came out, the Madden franchise comes out with an updated game. The excitement of the new version every year is the updated rosters. It’s exciting to play with your favorite team, coach your favorite players and imagine the potential possibilities of the new players. In addition to the updated rosters, the franchise always has some new features that improve

the game play and thrills of playing for hours on end. The game has progressed in light years since it’s inception in the early days. It has gone from a top-view 2-dimensional game, to an extremely lifelike football simulation. When you first enter a room with this game being played on a screen, you might actually think you’re watching the real thing.

Now, add to the mix Madden ’09 for the Nintendo Wii and there is even that much more fun. Playing the game on the Wii puts you into the center of the action. You are now not only coaching, play calling and substituting players. Now, there is no more sitting back and hitting a couple buttons to control your players. Instead, you are now actually throwing the ball, catching the ball and creating all the the moves on the field. All your movements the Wii controller senses will be copied on the screen. Stepping back and throwing the ball, will have the quarterback will doing the same. These actions are truly amazing. You’ve definitely never experienced another video game like it, in your entire life.

Besides the amazing benefit of playing the game on the Wii, Madden ’09 has several new features that make it a first and one of a kind experience. You will first be given a test when you begin the game. No need to worry as this is not a test of you footbal knowledge. It is a test of your skills in Madden. They test you in several key areas of the game such as rushing, passing, run defense, and pass defense. The score that you receive is called your Madden IQ.  Sort of like a golf handicap system. This is the score that goes with you when you start to play. While you may not have a high score initially, your score can go up as your play improves.
Your Madden IQ or the Madden handicap, is then used to accommodate for you and your opponent during game play. This handicap score will level the playing field between you and your opponent. It will allow someone with a very high Madden IQ to play with someone with a lower Madden IQ. The computer will compensate for your lack of skills to make it a more fun game. This is a pretty revolutionary feature and allows you to play with anyone and have fun.  If you don’t like it, you can always turn it off.

Overall, Madden ’09 for the Nintendo Wii is definitely a winner. The absolute best electronic football game on the market. Its new game play features and graphics will amaze you. While you might be thinking about skipping this year and buying it next year, you might want to reconsider. Madden ’09 is by far the best one yet in the franchise. John Madden football does it again.
